Indicators

Assuming you have attended the course or listened to the recordings, you now know what the  Triple Play Indicators are and how to use them.

This page will review them for you and give you access to code you can import into certain platforms to make getting up set up easier.

The Three Indicators:

1. Bollinger Bands: We use the standard configuration of these which you certainly have on your charting platform.

2. Price Performance: This indicator is created by creating a ratio of the symbol you are looking at and the SPY, and then plotting that ratio in the form of a Bollinger Bands. Here are the general steps:

  1. Most charting platforms will enable you to calculate and plot this ratio (symbol/SPY).
  2. Use this ratio as the input for a Bollinger Band indicator. So instead of the Bollinger Band using the last price of the symbol it uses the ratio.
    • If you cannot do this with Bollinger Bands a good substitute is to simply create a 20 period moving average of the ratio. This will be the same indicator just without the bands.
  3. For the long term Trend Performance indicator, create a 125 period moving average of the ratio.

3. Volume Performance: This indicator is the standard On Balance Volume indicator found in most platforms plotted in a Bollinger Band (just as we created the Price Performance indicator with the ratio).

* If you cannot plot OBV with Bollinger Bands a good substitute is to simply create a 20 period moving average of the ratio. This will be the same indicator just without the bands.
